Your script successfully made it to Level 3 of the Gauntlet. At Level 1, it's their job
to do what everyone in the industry will do with your script — to see if it
captures and holds their attention in the first 20 pages (or 30 pages, for those on the fence).
At Level 2, readers are asked to read half of the script and continue to read the full
script if the first half is solid.
You will see a larger set of notes on the first 20 pages of the script, as that is where
7 out of your 17 reads were focussed. Keep in mind, though, that
the first 20 pages — the setup — is the most important part or your script.
Some Level 2 readers (those who passed) may have stopped reading after the first half
of the script, which may also have it appear that the second half of the script has
fewer comments than the first.
The Gauntlet is a structured approach to vet material so quality scripts climb to the top.
LEVEL 1: Focus on first 20 pages (or 30 pages, for those on the fence).
LEVEL 2: Minimum half script read and full read if first half is solid.
LEVEL 3: Full reads by established writers and minimum 10-page reads by reps.
Scripts can climb to the next level by:
